SEATTLE, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- More than 20 top musical artists are planning a series of concerts in battleground states to work against the re-election of U.S. President George Bush.

Dave Matthews Band, the Dixie Chicks, Pearl Jam, R.E.M., Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp and others plans to perform in nine states -- including Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The campaign is titled the "Vote for Change" tour.

The lineup of artists also includes Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Keb' Mo' and James Taylor.

"This election is the most important one in our lifetime," said Matthews in a prepared statement. "It may be the most important in America's history."

Organizers said all the artists were donating their services. The tour is being presented by the liberal political organization MoveOn PAC, with proceeds benefiting America Coming Together.
