LOS ANGELES, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Julian McMahon, the star of the FX cable channel series "Nip/Tuck," is joining the cast of "The Fantastic Four," Daily Variety said Tuesday.
McMahon will play the villainous Dr. Doom, a maniacal genius who hides his disfigured face behind a mask and goes up against "The Fantastic Four" -- astronauts who gain superpowers after they are exposed to radiation.
The cast includes Michael Chiklis as Ben Richards/the Thing, Jessica Alba as Sue Richards/the Invisible Woman, Ioan Gruffud as elastic-man Reed Richards, and Chris Evans as Johnny Storm/the Human Torch.
Tim Story ("Barbershop") is directing, from a screenplay by newcomer Simon Kinberg. Plans call for filming to star in Vancouver this month, for a July 2005 release.
