Metallica finds drummer replacement

GLASGOW, Scotland, June 7 (UPI) -- Metallica had to audition drummers at the last minute at the Download festival in Glasgow, Scotland, after Lars Ulrich got sick.

Ulrich was hospitalized in Germany so the heavy metal band carried on backstage auditions for a last-minute replacement, BBC radio reported Monday.

The group used Dave Lombardo from Slayer but he was replaced by Joey Jordison from Slipknot who was then replaced by Sal Abruscato from Life of Agony, while Lombardo rushed backstage to listen to Metallica CDs to learn more tracks.

Meanwhile, Iggy Pop urged about 300 fans to climb over the barriers and dance on stage with him at the festival.
