Meg Ryan wants film hit with Tom Hanks

LOS ANGELES, May 13 (UPI) -- U.S. actress Meg Ryan has penned a film script for herself and Tom Hanks aimed at scoring a box office hit reminiscent of those the pair made in the 1990s.

Ryan has written a screenplay titled "Somewhere In Time" about two 40somethings -- played by Ryan and Hanks -- who are married to other people, but fall in love with each other," World Entertainment News Network reported Thursday.

The film is set to begin production next year after Hanks finishes filming the murder drama "A Cold Case" and Ryan completes the Cuban romance "Papa."

Ryan and Hanks were box office darlings with films such 1990's "Joe Versus the Volcano," 1993's "Sleepless In Seattle" and 1998's "You've Got Mail."

Ryan's subsequent films, including the recent "In The Cut" and "Against The Ropes," have failed to match the "When Harry Met Sally" actress' success of the previous two decades.
