Tarantino 'profanity,' Idol scene redone

NEW YORK, April 16 (UPI) -- The taping of American Idol had to be stopped when "Kill Bill" director Quentin Tarantino used questionable language, the New York Post said Friday.

The New York Post reported Tarantino said, "You're an eff-in powerhouse!" to contestant LaToya London, using "eff-in" as a substitute for a similar expletive.

The word "eff-in'" isn't technically against any rules and would normally pass by the censors without question, the Post said. However, in the post-Janet Jackson crackdown by the Federal Communications Commission, Fox wasn't taking any chances.

The taping was stopped, and when Tarantino was seen on Tuesday's episode, he said "You're a powerhouse!"

The FCC has been fining broadcasters millions of dollars for indecent material ever since Jackson's infamous "wardrobe malfunction" during the Super Bowl half-time show.
