NEW YORK, March 17 (UPI) -- Ashlee Simpson is getting her own MTV reality show just like big sister and "Newlyweds" star Jessica Simpson, E! Online reported Wednesday.
Cameras will track Ashlee as she attempts to leap from small screen star to pop rocker in the six-episode series, "Ashlee," set to premiere this summer, the entertainment news Web site said.
"Ashlee has connected with her fans as an actress and now they will have an opportunity to see her as she drives to succeed in the music arena," MTV executive Lois Curren said in a news release. "Ashlee is talented and charismatic and we are happy she is taking us along on her adventure in the music industry."
Ashlee Simpson is best-known for her portrayal of Cecelia on the WB family drama "7th Heaven."
In addition to covering her efforts to cut an album, the MTV show will also chronicle her personal life, covering such events as her breakup with her boyfriend and her first-ever onstage performance with her band, E! said.
