'Seinfeld' co-stars work out DVD release

LOS ANGELES, March 1 (UPI) -- Jerry Seinfeld's famous sidekicks have agreed to participate in a new DVD of the long-running U.S. comedy after working out royalty payments.

Jason Alexander, who played George Costanza, said he, Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Elaine) and Michael Richards (Kramer) wil give new interviews for the DVD collection in exchange for a piece of the profit, the New York Post reported Monday.

The trio had refused to participate because Seinfeld and Castle Rock Television, which produced the series for NBC, refused to pay them.

"We are currently in negotiations so that we are participants in the DVD, and that's a happy arrangement because we didn't really want to create this sort of negative impression of our experience," said Alexander.

Royalties have been a sticky point for the co-stars.

" ... In the years that we've been in syndication, Julia, Michael and I have probably individually seen about a quarter of a million dollars out of residuals," Alexander said, "whereas our brethren have seen hundreds of millions of dollars."
