NEW YORK, March 1 (UPI) -- Stephen King recreates his life-threatening 1999 accident in "Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital," his new U.S. television miniseries.
Set to premiere Wednesday on ABC, the 15-hour drama features a scene on a Maine road where a jogger is left for dead after an eerie re-creation of the collision that injured King.
"My wife asked me, 'How many times are you going to go back to the accident?' I said, 'I'm going to do it until I feel I've gotten rid of it.' And I think I've gotten rid of it," King told USA Today from Florida, where he has been recuperating from illness.
King's "Hospital" is an adaptation of Lars von Trier's "The Kingdom," a Danish miniseries about a hospital built on "uneasy" ground where children died in a mill fire a century earlier.
The series stars Andrew McCarthy, Diane Ladd, Bruce Davison and Ed Begley, Jr.
