Music will be included from the 1980 film, in which Jake (John Belushi) and Elwood (Aykroyd) reunite their band to raise money to pay an orphanage's tax bill, as well as music from Blues Brothers albums Belushi and Aykroyd made together.

The musical tells the tale of Elwood and a cast of gospel-singing characters trying to get Jake out of purgatory and into heaven, and will feature established Chicago-based blues artists as the onstage band. Gospel singers and other cast members are also expected to be cast locally.

Previews for the open-ended run begin April 7.
