Kurt Russell opens in new film Friday

NEW YORK, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Kurt Russell, whose latest movie "Miracle" opens Friday, says he plans to take his love of 21 years -- Goldie Hawn -- to Hawaii on Valentine's Day.

The New York Daily News said the couple met Valentine's Day 1983 on the set of "Swing Shift".

The 52 year old Russell gained 15 pounds to play hockey coach Herb Brooks in "Miracle", the story of the 1980 U.S. hockey team that won the Olympic gold medal.

Working on "Miracle" was a "double whammy" says Russell because his father, Bing, who founded the independent Portland Mavericks baseball team and who later acted on "Bonanza," died during the filming.

Brooks, 66, died in August in a traffic accident.
