Abba singer to launch new album

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Abba singer Agnetha Faeltskog, 53, of Sweden has signed a new record deal to make her first album in 17 years, the BBC reports.

"My Coloring Book," an acoustic recording with an orchestra and band leader Anders Neglin, will be released worldwide by Warner Scandinavia in the spring.

Faeltskog, a founder member of the millions-selling 1970s and 1980s Swedish group, has lived a secluded life on an island outside Stockholm since the 1987 release of the album "I Stand Alone."

Work on the new album began three years ago but stopped when sound engineer Michael Tretow suffered a stroke. "If I Thought You'd Ever Change Your Mind," composed by John Cameron, will be the first single from the album.

Abba shot to fame in 1974 after winning the Eurovision Song Contest with "Waterloo." The group had nine No. 1 hits between 1974 and 1982, selling over 350 million albums worldwide, even after they split in the early 1980s.
