NEW YORK, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Los Lobos, Billy Corgan and Jackson Browne are the latest artists to sign up for "Por Vida," a CD to benefit Alejandro Escovedo, who is battling hepatitis C.
Others already set to appear on the two-disc tribute album are John Cale, the Jayhawks, Howe Gelb, Calexico, Chuck Prophet, Peter Case and Ian Hunter, Whiskeytown, Joe Ely and the Flatlanders, Jennifer Warnes and Los Lonely Boys, as well as the artist's brother, Pete Escovedo, and niece, Sheila E, Billboard reported Monday.
Or Music will release the compilation in April. Proceeds will benefit the Alejandro Escovedo Medical & Living Expense Trust, set up to pay costs associated with the singer/songwriter's treatment for hepatitis C.
The next in a series of U.S. benefit concerts for Escovedo will take place Jan. 25 in Charlotte, N.C. Former Whiskeytown singer Caitlin Cary heads the bill of more 15 acts who are to perform at the Double Door Inn.
