Bidding for Ellen's sheets up to $25,100

BURBANK, Calif., Jan. 16 (UPI) -- As of Friday, bidding for a pair of cheap, twin-bed sheets baring Ellen DeGeneres' smiling face had climbed to $25,100 on eBay.

"The Ellen DeGeneres Show" hostess put the sheets up on the auction Web site as a joke after guest James Spader mentioned celebrity-themed merchandise sold like hot cakes on the Internet.

DeGeneres seemed amazed by the frenzy the "Ellen Sweet Dreams Bedding" has caused and announced on her show all proceeds from the final sale will be donated to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

DeGeneres warned bidders to beware of copycat sheet swindlers, however, noting the eBay page advertising her sheets clearly states they are being auctioned off by "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
