Outkast, Beyonce lead Image Award nods

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Outkast and Beyonce Knowles led the pack in the 35th NAACP Image Awards nominations announced Monday, grabbing six and five nods, respectively.

The awards honoring people and companies supporting positive change for blacks in entertainment will be presented March 6 at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles.

Outkast got two nods each for "Hey Ya!" and "The Way You Move," as well as for its double album "Speakerboxxx/the Love Below" and in the artist category, Daily Variety reported.

Beyonce's nominations included new musical artist and female artist, as well as music video and song for "Crazy in Love." She was also nominated in the acting category for her role in "The Fighting Temptations."

The nominees for male artists were Luther Vandross, Gerald Levert, Mos Def, Musiq and Seal; and the female artists were Alicia Keys, Aretha Franklin, Beyonce, Heather Headley and Mary J. Blige.

"Bad Boys II," "Bend It Like Beckham," "Deliver Us From Eva," "The Fighting Temptations" and "Whale Rider" all received film nominations.

The nominated TV dramas were "Soul Food," "24," "Boston Public," "CSI: Miami" and "The Wire" and the comedies included "The Bernie Mac Show," "Girlfriends," "Half and Half," "My Wife and Kids" and "Whoopi."
