WASHINGTON, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Democratic presidential hopeful Gov. Howard Dean raised $14 million so far in the fourth quarter of the year in what his campaign calls the $100 revolution.
Dean for America Campaign Manger Joe Trippi said Monday the campaign contributions came from 52,000 contributors. So far this year a total of 280,000 people have given money to the former Vermont governor.
"And the most incredible thing is how we've done this -- through everybody taking action and doing their part -- through hundreds of thousands of contributions averaging nearly $100 (each)," he said in a news release.
Trippi said the campaign expects to hit nearly $40 million for the year. Much has come though Internet donations.
Dean places in polls at the top of the nine-person race for the Democratic Party presidential nomination.
The Bush-Cheney Republican ticket has raised more than $110 million to date for their uncontested 2004 re-nomination and the general election contest.
