SAVANNAH, Ga., Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Actor Ben Affleck is so taken with Southern charm that he has purchased an estate on Georgia's Hampton Island, Zap2It.com reports.
"It's hard to explain, difficult to put into words, but every time I go there I feel really relaxed," the popular actor said.
Affleck, a Boston native, and his girlfriend, entertainer Jennifer Lopez, bought two of the first 10 tracts made available at the exclusive development, including the two main homes on the island.
Amenities for Hampton Island residents include an 11-passenger sea plane available to ferry residents from their docks to such neighboring islands as Hilton Head, S.C., and Sea Island, Ga., an equestrian center with 20 miles of riding trails, a 53-acre interior lake with a grist mill and fish camp, and a chapel overlooking the marsh.
Affleck first fell in love with the South when he filmed "Forces of Nature" with Sandra Bullock, who is a homeowner at nearby Tybee Island.
