Tyler skips London 'Rings' premiere

LONDON, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Actress Liv Tyler obliged her fans at London's debut of the Lord of the Rings' final installment, but reportedly left before the London screening.

Tens of thousands of fans jammed around the Leicester Square theater Thursday night, and Tyler dutifully signed autographs, shook hands and posed for photographs. But she left to watch the Tennessee rock band, Kings of Leon at a nightclub before "Return of the King" started playing.

The Times of London reported Friday Tyler said she had cried continuously the first time she saw the film, and did not want to repeat the experience.

Film promoters said they were relieved to see the massive turnout, noting some fans had begun lining up at 4 a.m. local time for the evening screening of Peter Jackson's last film of the Tolkien trilogy.
