TORONTO, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Veteran rock band Rush will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a 2004 tour of North America and Europe, according to the band's Web site.
Thirty North American dates are planned beginning in June before the trio heads to Europe for its first visit since 1992. The specific stops have not been released.
Rush, consisting of vocalist/bassist Geddy Lee, guitarist Alex Lifeson and drummer Neil Peart, debuted in 1974 with its eponymous album, the best-selling debut project in Canadian history. Two years later, the album "2112" became the band's first million-selling release and successfully crossed them into the U.S. market.
Three decades later, Rush continues with a strong fan base. Its 63-city 2002 tour, after a five-year break, grossed more than $27 million, according to Billboard Boxscore. A DVD chronicling that tour debuted in October at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Music Video chart and has sold 83,000 units in the United States to date.
