Farrah Fawcett's Broadway show closes

NEW YORK, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- The comedy "Bobbi Boland" by Nancy Hasty starring Farrah Fawcett in her Braodway debut has closed after seven previews, Daily Variety reports.

Producer Joyce Johnson shut down the show, which had set Nov. 24 as its premier date.

"I decided to close the production now, because we learned in previews that the play simply does not work in a Broadway house," Johnson said in a statement.

"This work debuted in a more intimate theater some years back, which is where I first saw 'Bobbi Boland.' The vivid characters I saw in such a small setting did not transfer to the Cort. It is as simple as that."

Johnson's off-Broadway production of "Omnium Gatherum" is scheduled to close Nov. 30 after a short run at the Variety Arts Theater.

In its seven previews, "Bobbi Boland" grossed only $100,389, Variety said.
