Depp excited about 'Jump Street' feature

LOS ANGELES, July 10 (UPI) -- Actor Johnny Depp says he loves the idea of a possible big-screen version of the 1980s cop show, "21 Jump Street."

"I think that would be great," said the 40-year-old star of "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl." "They should do it. I think they should get really, really great comedy writers and dive right in. It's like the 'Brady Bunch' or something."

But Depp, who has spent much of the past two decades trying to live down the pin-up status he earned during his tenure on the popular FOX series, says he wouldn't like to see other young actors he admires fall into the "teen idol" trap either.

Although some media have reported Depp will appear in the "21 Jump Street" film, the actor says no one has asked him to do so.
