Elvira Macabre Mobile up for bid

LOS ANGELES, June 10 (UPI) -- Television and film icon Elvira (a/k/a Cassandra Peterson) will put a piece of cult film noir up for grabs to the highest bidder June 21.

The Elvira Macabre Mobile, a '58 T-Bird convertible and a star feature of the cult hit movies such as "Elvira, Mistress of the Dark," will be sold at the upcoming Barrett-Jackson Auction at the Petersen Auto Museum, Los Angeles.

The Elvira Macabre Mobile has become a celebrity in its own right, appearing in countless publications around the world and spawning licensing deals for models from Revell/Monogram, dye-cast cars from Johnny Lightning as well as being featured in Elvira calendars and comic books.

The customized convertible '58 T-Bird was recently completely restored by the legendary George Barris and features a spider web grill, faux leopard skin upholstery and handmade chrome hood ornaments. Elvira has more recently appeared with the Macabre Mobile in the 2002 Hollywood Christmas Parade, the 2002 West Hollywood Gay Pride Parade and the 2001 Palm Springs Gay Pride Parade.
