Kiriyenko said the leaders he met were very interested in developing uranium production and nuclear energy in Brazil.

"The first area for cooperation is the exploration and production of natural uranium. We spoke about it at the level of companies, of senior ministry officials and at the level of the country's leadership. The interest is there," Kiriyenko said.

Russia's deep-exploration technologies could help Brazil to triple its recoverable uranium reserves, benefiting not only Brazil but also the world's nuclear industry.

Kiriyenko also said Russia could help Brazil build new nuclear plants, further increasing trade between the two countries.
