PARIS, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- French energy company GDF Suez said Wednesday the Orca field in the North Sea should produce 52.9 million cubic feet of natural gas per day at its peak in 2014.
GDF Suez said it started production from the Orca gas field, which straddles the British and Dutch maritime borders. Three wells should be on line by February and production should reach its plateau at some point next year.

The company said the start of production came two years after its operational plans were approved. The installation of an offshore drilling platform was completed in July.
Gas from the field will be sent through an existing underwater pipeline to the Dutch coast for further processing.
