435-mile NGL pipeline planned for Texas

HOUSTON, April 13 (UPI) -- A planned 435-mile pipeline from Colorado to Texas is expected to carry at least 150,000 barrels of natural gas liquids per day, project partners said.

Enterprise Products Partners, Anadarko Petroleum Corp. and DCP Midstream announced they signed an agreement for the design and construction of the natural gas liquids pipeline, dubbed the Front Range pipeline.

Enterprise said it expected the pipeline would have an initial capacity of 150,000 barrels per day, which could increase to 230,000 bpd based on shipper interest.

"Enterprise will construct and operate the pipeline, which is expected to begin service in the fourth quarter of 2013," the company said in a statement.

Bill Waldheim, president of DCP Midstream's logistics business unit, said the introduction of new drilling techniques made infrastructure like the Front Range project necessary.

The companies involved in the project provided few details on cost of construction.
