STAVANGER, Norway, June 29 (UPI) -- Norwegian energy company Statoil said it installed the first of 90 foundations for an 88-turbine wind farm off the coast of Norfolk, England.

The wind farm located off the coast of England will have an installed capacity of 315 megawatts once all of the foundations and turbines are installed.

"On land, we're already well ahead, the substation is nearing its final form, and the onshore cable is nearly finished," said Elly Kristine Bjerkness, project manager for Statoil. "Now that offshore installation is getting under way, this is a big day for us."

Installation of the network of underwater cables that tie the foundations and turbines together should begin in October, the company added.

The offshore wind farm will feature 88 wind turbines and two substations. When completed, the wind farm will cover 13 square miles.

Operations at the wind farm are to start in 2011.
