HOUSTON, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Oil companies working in the Gulf of Mexico said personnel started to return to onshore and offshore facilities after Hurricane Isaac.
Hurricane Isaac made landfall last week as a Category 1 storm, knocking power out to countless residents along the southern U.S. coast and inundating several areas.
More than 80 of the oil and natural gas installations in U.S. waters of the Gulf of Mexico were evacuated ahead of the storm, causing a spike in crude oil and gasoline prices.
Apache Corp. announced that its onshore and offshore production is still shut because third-party infrastructure was still in the process of restarting. That represents about 40,800 barrels of oil per day and 118 million cubic feet of natural gas.
Nevertheless, the company said it was inspecting its gulf facilities and found only minimal damage.
Enterprise Products Partners said its personnel were redeployed to onshore and offshore facilities. The company said it too found no significant damage to its infrastructure along the Gulf Coast.
