UPI Spotlight: Georges makes landfall near Biloxi

BILOXI, Miss., Sept. 28 -- Hurricane Georges has made landfall (Monday) near Biloxi, Miss., with sustained winds of 105 mph, and a reported gust of 172 mph at Keesler Air Force Base. Lt. Col. Albert Santa Cruz of the Mississippi Highway Patrol says the greatest threat is from the torrential rain expected in the next 24 hours. He says no deaths or injuries are reported at this time in the Gulfport-Biloxi area where thousands of people have fled.
