Allister named coach at Stephen F. Austin

NACOGDOCHES, Texas, April 9 -- Stephen F. Austin University promoted assistant coach and primary recruiter Derek Allister to head coach Tuesday, to replace Ned Fowler, who was relieved of his duties at the end of the season.

Allister came to Stephen F. Austin in 1993 after spending six years as the top assistant at Nevada. He also served stints at Washington State and California from 1983-87. 'Allister will provide continuity and stability to our basketball program,' athletic director Steve Mccarty said. 'I'm excited and optimistic about the future of Lumberjack basketball with Derek at the helm.'
