Beheaded woman also had heart cut out

MIAMI, Nov. 29 -- A 'known prostitute' whose headless body was found last week also had her heart cut out, Miami police said Wednesday. The body of Darlene Toler, 36, was found Friday in a field west of Miami.

The headless, heartless body had been wrapped in a plastic bag, Metro-Dade County investigators said. Authorities would not confirm reports that blood had been sucked out of the woman's body. 'The victim wrapped in a plastic bag was decapitated, and at this juncture of the investigation the head has not been located,' said police spokesman Patrick Brickman. 'The victim's heart was also removed by subjects unknown.' Brickman said a witness, apparently the last person to see the victim, saw Toler entering a 1980s-model, two-door red Chevrolet Blazer with dark tinted windows on Thanksgiving Day. The witness told police the vehicle was driven by a white male with shoulder-length blond hair. Detectives said there were no indications the gruesome killing was the work of a serial killer because detectives are not investigating any other similar homicides. A serial killer known as the 'Tamiami Trail strangler' plied the Tamiami Trail in 1994 and earlier this year, but police in June arrested Rory Enrique Conde, 30, in connection with the six slayings and he remains in jail awaiting trial. The body of Toler, described by police as 'a known prostitute,' was found near the property of Rinker Materials, which includes a stone quarry and a cement factory. The passerby who found the body was a Rinker employee.
