BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- The movie of Tina Turner's story, 'What's Love Got To Do With It?' had seven nominations, the most of any project, among thecontenders announced Tuesday for the 26th NAACP Image Awards.

Spike Lee's 'Malcolm X' earned six nominations, including outstanding movie.

Three television comedies received three nominations each: 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,' 'ROC Live' and 'Living Single.'

'Queen,' based on Alex Haley's novel, earned five nominations.

Fox's 'In Living Color' received four nominations, including outstanding variety show. Three 'In Living Color' performers also earned nominations.

The Image Awards recognize individuals, organizations and projects that present positive images of blacks.

In addition to the nominations for the 'Malcolm X' movie, a book about the making of that film received a nomination. ' Any Means: The Trials and Tribulations of the The Making of Malcolm X' by Spike Lee and Ralph Wiley was nominated for outstanding non-fiction literary work.

Two children's books about the black Muslim leader received nominations: 'Malcolm X: A Force For Change' by Nikki Grimes and 'Malcolm X: Any Means Necessary' by Walter Dean Myers.

The awards show will be held Jan. 5 in Pasadena and will air Jan. 22 on NBC.
