Former Boy Scout aide charged again with sex abuse

PLYMOUTH, Mass. -- A former Boy Scout aide charged last year with sexually abusing at least six young boys in Massachusetts was arraigned Wednesday on charges that he abused a 12-year-old boy while free on bail.

Michael Nickerson, 18, of Pembroke, Mass., pleaded innocent at his arraignment in district court to charges of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.

Nickerson was ordered held on $100,000 cash bail because of previous sexual abuse charges involving young boys, according to District Attorney William O'Malley.

Nickerson was arrested Wednesday after police investigated reports by a 12-year-old boy who claimed he was sexually abused by Nickerson on June 12.

Nickerson was indicted last July by a Plymouth County grand jury on charges of raping or sexually abusing at least six young boys between the ages of 10 and 14.

He is still awaiting trial in that case.

Nickerson was an assistant scoutmaster in Pembroke, and authorities said five of the boys who were allegedly assaulted were members of the troop he helped to run.
