Del-Vikings member dead at 57

PONTIAC, Mich. -- Corinthian 'Kripp' Johnson, lead singer for the Del-Vikings rock group, died Friday night of prostate cancer at his home.

He was 57.

Mili Lilley, manager of the group, said Johnson was diagnosed of having cancer following a prostate operation in October 1989.

Johnson was a founding member of the group, which was formed in 1955. The band put together a number of hits, most notably 'Come Go With Me' and 'Whispering Bells.'

He last appeared with the group during a concert in Hollywood, Fla. on April 26. Johnson was noted for his rendition of 'How Can I Find True Love.'

Johnson is survived by his wife, Johnnie Mae, and eight children. Funeral arrangements were pending.
