Idaho 45, Sacramento St. 3

MOSCOW, Idaho -- John Friesz tied his own Big Sky Conference record by throwing six touchdown passes Saturday night, powering Idaho to a 45-3 win over Sacramento State in a non-conference game.

Friesz completed 20 of 32 passes for 375 yards against the Division II Hornets and threw two TDs in each of the three quarters he played.

Wide receivers David Jackson and Lee Allen had two TD catches each, while Jackson had six receptions for 181 yards to lead Vandal receivers.

Deavon Pearce paced the Vandal ground attack with 97 yards on 11 carries, including a 72-yard run in the second period. Idaho improved its record to 1-2, while the Hornets fell to 2-1.

The Hornets scored first on a 30-yard field goal by Eric Leshinsky in the first quarter before Friesz took over and threw TD passes of 16 and 66 yards to Allen and Jackson respectively in the period.

Friesz threw a 4-yard TD pass to Allen in the second period before connecting with Kasey Dunn on a 7-yard pass before halftime.

Friesz, a senior, threw TD passes of 22 and 25 yards to Jackson and Damon Daniels respectively in the third period before Thayne Doyle booted a 22-yard field goal later in the quarter to end all scoring.
