GOODMAN NOT EVERYMAN

John Goodman's portrayal of the hefty blue-collar husband on 'Roseanne' has won him plenty of positive reviews but they're definitely not going to his head. 'It's jive,' Goodman says in Cosmopolitan magazine when asked about being tagged as sex symbol.

'I wouldn't pay money to see me kiss somebody. The sex symbol thing -- don't make fun of me. I don't have a great self-image. If I ever get some time off from all this work, maybe I'll get one.' Goodman is still taken aback by the instant fame 'Roseanne' has brought him but scoffs at those who overanalyze the show and call him a working-class role model. 'It's just a TV show, man,' he says. Goodman is perfectly happy doing character parts rather than lead roles and he's been walking 3 miles a day in hopes of dropping some pounds. 'I'm not crazy about how much I weigh,' he says.
