By WILLIAM C. TROTT, United Press International

Patrick Lyndon Nugent, the grandson of President Lyndon Johnson, was commissioned this week as a second lieutenant in the Army.

Nugent received the commission after getting his bachelor of arts degree from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, the school his grandfather attended. Pinning the bars on Nugent were his father, Patrick Nugent, an oil and gas lobbyist in Austin, and his mother, Luci Johnson Turpin, who is remarried and now lives in Toronto. Patrick's grandmother, Lady Bird Johnson, also was at the ceremony.
