Burnham said both drivers were alone in their cars and both were wearing seatbelts. He said no charges were filed pending further investigation.

Perry, who won the Cy Young Award in 1978 when he was 26-6 with the San Diego Padres, now coaches baseball at Limestone College in Gaffney.

The driver of the second car, Harold Arnold, 66, was in fair condition at Winter Haven Memorial Hospital.
