BRATTLEBORO, Vt. -- Country Journal magazine -- a national monthly publication focusing on rural life -- has been sold to a Pennsylvania firm, spokesmen say.

Publisher William Blair and Editor Richard Ketchum said Monday the magazine they founded a decade ago was purchased by Historical Times, Inc. of Harrisburg, Pa., for an undisclosed sum.

The Pennsylvania company, which owns several other publications, plans to move the magazine's business office to Harrisburg within a few weeks, Blair said.

Country Journal has a circulation of 300,000, and Warren Syer, president of Historical Times, said the acquisition will push the company's combined circulation 'over the million mark.'
