Grace Kim of Ridgewood, N.J., utilized steady ground strokes...

KIAMESHA LAKE, N.Y. -- Grace Kim of Ridgewood, N.J., utilized steady ground strokes for a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Melissa Brown of Scarsdale, N.Y., Sunday in the singles final of the USTA Girls 16 National Indoor tennis championships.

Kim, the No. 4 seed, won the final three games of each set in earning her third national junior title.

The Seoul, Korea, native captured the national 14s' indoors a year ago and took the National 14 championship last summer.

The 14-year-old Kim did not lose a set in six rounds. She lost twice to Brown in 1981 but holds a 2-0 mark against her rival this year.

The doubles title went to Katrina Adams of Chicago and Gail Gibson of South Bend, Ind., who scored a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Shawn Foltz of Indianapolis and Niurku Sodupe of Miami.

The tournament was played at the Concord Hotel.
