TULSA, Okla. -- 'Custer's Revenge,' a home video game in which Gen. George A. Custer chases a naked Indian maiden, will be the subject of a boycott in Tulsa, which has a population of more than 39,000 American Indians.

A spokeswoman for the Tulsa Native American Coalition said Monday the group will ask the city commission to endorse a resolution condemning the game.

'It is very degrading to the Indian woman as well as all women in general,' said Pam Chibitty, executive director of the Tulsa coalition. 'There's no other way we can take it other than a racial slur.'

The game shows a figure representing Custer dodging arrows and cactus as he chases the figure of a naked Indian woman across the screen. The player gains points when the electronic Custer catches the woman and rapes her, Ms. Chibitty said.

'Tulsa has the highest concentration of American Indians of any metropolitan area in the country,' she said. 'We can only hope they will act on our request, and ban the game.'

Earlier this month, the city council in Oklahoma City unanimously approved a resolution labeling the game and other sexually explicit video games 'distasteful' and 'not in the best interests of the community,' Ms. Chibitty said.
