HOLLYWOOD -- Comedienne Carol Burnett and her producer husband, Joseph Hamilton, announced Friday they have agreed to a trial separation after 19 years of marriage and three children.
A spokesman for Miss Burnett said the couple's separation is temporary and that no legal action has been taken.
It is the second marriage for each. Miss Burnett divorced actor Don Saroyan in 1962. Hamilton divorced his first wife, Gloria, in Mexico the same day he married Miss Burnett in 1963.
Miss Burnett, 48, and Hamilton, 54, are the parents of three daughters, Carrie, 18, Jody, 15, and Erin, 13. The comedienne will continue to live at the family home on the island of Maui, Hawaii, while Hamilton will occupy their Beverly Hills home.
Spokesman Rick Ingersoll said Miss Burnett will remain in Hawaii until Nov. 21 when she will come to Los Angeles to be honored as Woman of the Year by Variety Clubs International.
