COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. -- The drowning death of Jaren Pate Lewis, estranged wife of singer Jerry Lee Lewis, was ruled accidental by the Shelby County Medical Examiner.
Services for Mrs. Lewis were scheduled today at 4 p.m. in Collierville Funeral Home with burial in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mrs. Lewis, 39, drowned Tuesday in the swimming pool of a friend, police said.
The entertainer and Jaren Elizabeth Pate were married in 1971. A tangled series of divorce petitions began in 1979, and they were scheduled to appear in divorce court in Hernando, Miss., later this month.
She leaves two daughters, Lori Lee Lewis, 10, and Kelli Pate, by a previous marriage.
