NEW YORK -- Yvan Cournoyer, Jean Potvin, Dennis Hull and Gordie Howe led a four-goal second period burst Sunday that carried the Blue team to a 4-2 victory over the Whites in the Masters of Hockey exhibition game of former NHL players.

A crowd of 13,565 watched the contest, sponsored by the Phil Esposito Foundation.

The foundation is to benefit retired hockey players in need and to establish a post-career planning program for present and former NHL players.

Former New York Ranger Walter Tkaczuk scored for the Whites for a 1-0 lead, beating goalie Wayne Thomas. Both are now assistant coaches for the New York Rangers.

Craig Patrick, the present Ranger general manager, gave the Whites a 2-0 lead by beating goalie Cesare Maniago.

The game reunited two famous hockey lines. Howe skated with Alex Delvecchio and Ted Lindsay, his former mates on the Detroit Red Wings. Jean Ratelle, Rod Gilbert and Vic Hadfield skated together in a recreation of the GAG (Goal-A-Game) Line.
