Brown, 45, was convicted on a misdemeanor charge of battery in the assault and was jailed for a day, fined $500 and placed on two years probation in 1978.

The dispute between the men arose during a golf tournament in 1977 when they argued over the placement of Snow's golf ball on the course.

According to testimony, the 6-foot 3-inch, 228-pound Brown slapped Snow, punched him in the ribs and grabbed him around the neck.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Snow suffered rib injuries, a wrenched neck and a cut inside his mouth.

Snow had originally sought $250,000 in general and punitive damages.
