British judge says OK for Muslim to wear beard

BRADFORD, England, Nov. 26, 1963 (UPI) - A judge said yesterday Faiz Akbar Khan, 31, should not have been fired from his job as a bus conductor because he refused to shave his beard. Khan, a native of Pakistan and a member of a Muslim sect that requires beards, was awarded $58.80 damages from Bradford corporation.

"The beard is not unsightly," said the judge.
