Buffalo 1, Chicago 1 (OT)

BUFFALO, N.Y., Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Miroslav Satan scored the tying goal with 14 seconds remaining in regulation Friday night to rally the Buffalo Sabres to a 1-1 tie with the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Blackhawks won the first two games of their road trip through New York, easily beating the lackluster New York Islanders on Tuesday and jumping out to a three-goal lead against the New York Rangers on Wednesday.

But Chicago faced its stiffest challenge Friday night and perhaps most frustrating as it managed 27 shots on Sabres goaltender Martin Biron and missed several scoring chances that could have made the game a rout.

Chicago took a 1-0 lead just 3:46 into the contest as Alex Zhamnov converted a penalty shot for his seventh goal. After being hooked by Buffalo's Curtis Brown, he deked Biron and barely slipped the puck past him.

The Blackhawks had a chance to increase their lead early in the second, but Theo Fleury and Kyle Calder had shots go off the post.

Satan's 10th goal was Buffalo's first shot on goal in nearly five minutes. With Biron pulled, Stu Barnes passed through two defenders from the right corner to Ales Kotalik. Kotalik deked Chicago defenseman Nathan Dempsey and goaltender Jocelyn Thibault before he fed Satan, who shot into the vacated net.
