Prosecutor: Bombers who attacked Iranian Embassy stayed in top hotel

BEIRUT, Lebanon, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- The suicide bombers who carried out a deadly attack on Iran's Embassy in Lebanon stayed at a luxury hotel in Beirut, a prosecutor said Thursday.

Military Prosecutor Saqr Saqr told the Daily Star investigators are examining footage from security cameras at the Sheraton Four Seasons. He said the two bombers both spoke Arabic.

A source in the security services told the newspaper one of the bombers was Palestinian. He said investigators had not yet identified the other.

"We confiscated two Lebanese identity cards, but they were forged," Saqr said.

The bombing Tuesday killed at least 25 people and injured scores more. One of the bombers wore a suicide belt while the other drove a truck loaded with explosives.

The Abdullah Azzam Brigades, a Lebanese group with ties to al-Qaida, has said it carried out the bombing.
