Police to question woman, 80, who hurt 3 children in day-care crash

MONTREAL, Nov. 13 (UPI) -- Canadian police said they hope to talk to an 80-year-old woman who crashed her car into a day-care center and injured three children.

One of the children remained hospitalized in stable condition, The (Montreal) Gazette reported.

The woman, who has not been identified, drove through a plate-glass window at the front of the center in the Montreal suburb of Laval Tuesday afternoon while the children were napping, police said.

The car came to rest inside the building, with at least one child underneath the vehicle.

Police said the driver received only minor injuries but was taken to a hospital because she suffered a bad case of shock and doctors sedated her, making her too groggy to speak to investigators.

Police mechanics were inspecting the car to determine if the crash was caused by mechanical issues or human error.
