Suspected suicide bomber killed in thwarted attack on Afghan forces

KABUL, Afghanistan, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- A suspected suicide bomber was shot dead Saturday in eastern Afghanistan before he could detonate his explosives, a local official said.

The attack in eastern Khost province was confirmed by Dawlat Khan Qayumi, chief of the Tani district in which the incident occurred, Khaama Press reported.

Reports indicated the alleged bomber was planning to attack a convoy of Afghan security forces, but was recognized by the troops and shot dead.

No security forces or civilians were injured, Qayumi said.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident.
