South Korea announces visit by Russia's Putin

SEOUL, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay an official visit to South Korea this month, President Park Geun-hye's office announced.

Putin and Park will meet Nov. 12-13 to address bilateral relations and security issues on the Korean Peninsula, the announcement said.

The two leaders met in September at the G20 meeting in Russia and will continue their dialogue on economic and regional-stability issues. Among the issues discussed in September was the idea of opening of a long-haul railroad line from South Korea to Europe, which would run through North Korea.

South Korea's Yonhap news agency said Putin would be the sixth head of state and the first from the four major world powers to visit Seoul since Park took office in February.
