Report: Hezbollah chief visits Iran

TEHRAN, April 21 (UPI) -- Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah has allegedly met with senior Iranian officials to discuss regional affairs, a Kuwaiti newspaper said.

Kuwaiti newspaper al-Rai says sources report Nasrallah met two weeks ago with Iran's Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, as well as other senior Iranian officials, during a secret visit to Iran. Nasrallah was said to have discussed the "comprehensive situation" in Syria, Iraq and Lebanon, as well as Israel, the newspaper said Sunday.

The sources said the sides noted a future war with Israel is "inevitable" and preparations must be made.

The report said senior Iranian generals told the Hezbollah chief the Islamic Republic would be willing to dispatch hundreds of thousands of soldiers to Syria to defend Bashar Assad's regime, in a joint deal with Hezbollah.

Nasrallah rarely ventures outside of his underground bunkers in Lebanon, fearing Israel may target him, the newspaper said.
